Nemechek This Season:
Nemechek moved into the top 25 in points with a 16th-place finish last week in Phoenix.
It was his fifth top-20 finish of the season. He is currently 24th in driver points
despite not qualifying for the March 24th race at Bristol Motor Speedway. In the
only restrictor-plate race of the season, Nemechek finished ninth in the Daytona
500 opener.
Nemechek at Talladega:
Front Row Joe has claimed three poles at Talladega, tying him with Sterling Marlin,
Jeremy Mayfield and Elliott Sadler for the most No. 1 starting spots among active
drivers at the 2.66-mile oval. In 24 starts at Talladega, Nemechek has notched one
top five and five top 10s. Last year at Talladega Nemechek got collected in an accident
in the spring race and finished 18th in the fall race. His best Talladega finish
was third in the 2000 race. His best finish in the spring race was sixth in 2001.
Nemechek on the Season:
"We fell off after a strong start to the season, but we're coming back and
it feels good. We missed the race in Bristol and that hurt us in the standings.
But we're now picking away at the points and heading in the right direction with
consistent runs. We're going to get better, I can feel it."
Nemechek on Talladega:
"Talladega is a cerebral race. You can't let your guard down. And if you do,
there's a good chance you'll be part of a big wreck, or cause a wreck. We (Ginn
Racing) have had great restrictor-plate cars and stout engines from Hendrick --
there's no reason why we shouldn't be a contender this weekend."
